The Socialist Worker Student Society is the student-wing of the Socialist Workers Party, a Trotskyist revolutionary anti-capitalist organisation that falls within the international socialist tendency.

 

At Goldsmiths SWSS is one of the most active left-wing political groups, organising a regular speaker/discussion on a Thursday evening (usually in the Green Room on the 1st floor of the SU at 5pm) debating current news issues. Recent meetings include 'Barack Obamam: real change for America?', 'How can Marxism be applied today?' and 'The Enviroment: do you have to be red to be green?'. Many SWSS members are key leading figures within the Goldsmiths Palestine Twinning and the Scholarest: Off Our Campus campaign.

 

Goldsmiths SWSS plays a large part within student politics and is often involved in promoting No-Platform policies for the BNP, anti-war activities, campaigning for free education and fighting the attacks on student democracy that have been happening up and down the country in the form of 'governance reviews'.
