Volunteering At Goldsmiths Students' Union
Over recent years the Union has expanded its non-commercial areas extensively, with particular focus on Student Development and Volunteering.
This is physical resource for Clubs, Societies and volunteers to use in running their activities, providing computer and phone access as well as photocopying facilities and most recently a kiosk to develop digital photos. There is a member of staff dedicated to co-ordinating Volunteering with Goldsmiths Students' Union who works out of the Student Activities centre four days a week. The volunteering schemes run from the centre have a particular focus on engaging with the local community and encouraging students from 'hard to reach` backgrounds in to Higher Education.

Why Volunteer?
Volunteering offers you a great opportunity to get involved in the local community and to make a difference both within that community and to the lives of individuals. It's not just about what you can do for other people though! Through the volunteering at GSU you can gain and demonstrate a range of transferable skills from interpersonal skills, teamwork, communication, cultural sensitivity, self-awareness, planning and management. As well as experience in specific areas such as youth work, criminal justice and working with adults and children in and educational setting. Volunteering can considerably enhance you CV and make you stand out to future employees, which is of vital importance in the ever more competitive job market
GSU believes that no one should be left out of pocket by taking part in volunteering on any of its schemes. Travel costs incurred while volunteering will be refunded either by GSU or the project in question.
