Clubs & Societies
The Union hosts a large number of Clubs & Societies. These clubs and societies are run by and for students with lots of support from the student union.
Clubs are comoetative and non competative sports groups which offer you a great chance to meet other students and keep fit and healthy. Get in contact with Debbie on d.irwin@gold.ac.uk for more information.
You can run a society on pretty much any topic and you'll get all sorts of help from the Student Union from room booking to training. People get invovled in societies for all sorts of reasons from campaigning about a cause close to their heart e.g. environmental awareness to meeting and having fun with students who share your interest such as the rock society to having the chance to share their culture or religion with others. Societis are also a great way for students to get their voice heard, for example a part-time student society would be a great way to lobby the university on it's members needs.
There are lots of differnt types of society
Hobbies & Subjects - Whether you are interested in fishing, photography, cocktails, drama, anthropology, comic books, films or anything else for that matter why not get your mates together and share your interests, experiences, equipment or whatever else. With 7500 students at Goldsmiths, do you think you're the only one interested in your hobby, interest or subject? Why not find out?
Culture - Whatever your background, culture or religion there are others at Goldsmiths who want to share your interests and experiences, whether the Islamic, Afro Caribbean, Irish, Jewish, German or anything else you can meet up with others with similar interests and backgrounds by joining one of our societies.
Political/Campaigning - Students Unions have always been a hotbed of political activity and Goldsmiths is no exception, with a huge range of political and campaigning organisations ranging from Conservative Future to Liberal Democrats or the LGBT Society and the Womens Society. You can meet other people with similar or even dissimilar interests and engage in some active campaigning, debating, arguing or, as ever, just making new friends.

Starting a Society
Any student at Goldsmiths can start a society! You'll need ten or more members, at least 3 of your members will form the societies committe. You'll also need to set out your aims and objectives, make sure you keep your members safe and ensure that all students at Goldsmiths can get invovled if they want to. Honestly it's really that simple, so if you fancy giving it a go, having fun and learning a whole range of new skills find out more and contact Jo in the Student Union on j.wright@gold.ac.uk or Laurel on l.sills@gold.ac.uk.
