What is a motion?
A motion is a document submitted to a Student Meeting to have something changed or done. A motion should relate to one topic. You can collect motion forms from the SU offices. The Sabbatical Officers will advise you on how to write and put a motion forward.
NUS
The Students' Union is part of the National Union Students along with most other Students' Unions in the country. This gives us a national campaigning base and national representation. The NUS has a national conference every year. Goldsmiths students are elected attend this as well as a series of regional conferences in and around London throughout the year.
ULU
We are also a part of the University of London Union (ULU), the biggest Students' Union in Europe, which represents and campaigns for students London wide. Recent ULU victories include securing travel discounts for students travelling on the Underground. ULU is governed by an elected student council, to which Goldsmiths can send ? delegates. If you would like to be a council member please consult the elections section of this pamphlet or visit us in the Union.
